Rural Romagna: where the holiday becomes living memory

Hotel Aurora, together with Azienda Agricola Due Tigli, has chosen to tell the story of Romagna starting from what made it great:
the land, the people, and the simple gestures that allowed life to continue.

This is how a proposal of authentic rural tourism was born, where the holiday is not only relaxation but participation, and where guests become the main actors in a living re-enactment of the humblest and at the same time most essential professions: those of farmers.

Romagna tourism, now known all over the world, is the result of the sacrifices of our grandparents.
Men and women who, helping one another, transformed huts into hotels and simple kitchens into places capable of producing fragrant dishes, born from the products of a genuine, healthy, and shared land.

The gesture that prepares the encounter

To keep these traditions alive and transform them into experiences to be lived together with tourists, Romagna has once again made its truest choice.

Forty-eight schoolchildren, together with the elderly of the village, went into the fields and, as in the past, hand-sowed ancient wheat, without machines, with patience and respect.
Not a symbolic gesture, but real work, done today to welcome tomorrow’s visitors and to live with them authentic days in the fields.

A transfer of knowledge that is not observed from afar:
it is lived, side by side.

A land that nourishes, through its biodiversity

Making this story even more tangible is our biodiversity garden, an interweaving of different varieties that provides fresh vegetables and fruit directly to Hotel Aurora.

A garden designed to preserve seeds, respect natural cycles, and tell—also through cooking—that quality is born from diversity and care.

A week between sea and rural life

In the month of June, a special week will take shape, where days at the sea will alternate with rural activities, following a natural, human rhythm.

Tourists will personally experience what has been prepared in the previous months, sharing the work, the stories, and the handed-down gestures.

The final day will be a true celebration of the land, featuring:

• the manual harvesting of wheat with the “falcnara”

• the passage of wheat sheaves through the old threshing machine, currently under restoration

• live music in the fields with the accordion, a beloved instrument among Romagna farmers because it was born and built in Mondaino, just a few kilometers from us

• tractor rides, walks with donkeys, and a Romagna cooking school, using the rolling pin as in the past

• an open-air grill of a Romagna excellence: Grigione di San Leo, a pig raised free-range in a 100-hectare woodland
